“Welcome, Cole, thanks for agreeing to be featured on my blog.”
“No worries. I’ve completed your questionnaire.” Cole hands over a couple of sheets of paper. He flashes a sigh-worthy grin then jerks his chin toward the ute parked out front. “Is this going to take long? Ive got to take my kids to Little Athletics and Im the coach.”
“No, I’ll be quick.” I shiver and pull my parka closer. Winters on the edge of the Outback have a chill that cuts right through your clothes and this old building has apparently never heard of heating. “So tell me, Cole. Whats your biggest fear?”
“Not being there when my family needs me. Especially, my kids.”
I smile. “I imagine running a cotton farm is hard work. How do you relax after a long day?”
He runs a hand along his jaw. “I run when Ive got the time. And listen to music. I like that New Age stuff and Irish ballads.”
I make copious notes. “How long have you lived in Mindalby?”
“All my life.”
“Have you ever wanted to travel or experience life elsewhere?”
“I took off one summer with my best mate, Al. We backpacked through Europe and spent a lot of time in London. But Australias my home. And farming is in my bones. This is the place for me.”
I tap my pen against my writing pad. “Hmmm, but what if you met the woman of your dreams and she wanted to live elsewhere?”
A frown forms on his face. “Thats a tough one. I reckon if she was the woman for me, shed be a country girl. Moving away wouldnt be on the table.”
“Sounds like youre tempting fate there.” I laugh.
“No way, I dont intend to walk down the aisle again. My kids are all that matter these days.” He rises to his feet and reaches for his Akubra. “We done here, maam?”
“Yes, thanks.” I grin. “A word of advice, Cole – keep your options open. You never know who could walk into your life.”

I'm thrilled to announce publication date of my sweet, rural romance with suspense elements in ebook format by Escape Publishing on 2nd July 2018.
My book, Cotton Field Dreams, is the first book in a group writing venture about a small community faced with the closure of its major employer - Mindalby Outback Romance series.
